Data migrations & reporting

Moving information is a piece of work with a before and an after. We plan it, check it, and leave you with a note of what moved. We do not promise the change will be invisible.

The problem

Customer records, mail or job history need to leave an old system. Duplicates and gaps make the new one hard to trust. Once a month, someone spends days assembling numbers that the business should already be able to see.

What you receive

  • An agreement of what is moving, what is staying, and what will be archived
  • A map from the old fields to the new ones
  • Cleaning of obvious duplicates and gaps, with a list of what we found
  • A trial move you can check before the real one
  • A reconciliation of counts and samples with you
  • A way back if the new setup is not right
  • A handover note: what moved, what was left, and how to use the new place
  • A straightforward report or dashboard for figures you choose, such as open enquiries, bookings or unpaid invoices

How the work usually breaks down

The move itself

We treat email, customer records and other business information as different piles, even when they move in the same project. Each pile has an owner on your side.

Checking the result

We compare what left with what arrived. You see the exceptions. A sample is reviewed by someone who knows the customers, not only by us.

Reporting

The aim is a calm view of numbers you already trust. We agree the definitions first, so the dashboard does not invent a new version of a booking or a sale.

Good to know

  • Old records are often incomplete. Cleaning makes that visible. It does not invent the missing history.
  • A rollback plan means we have a way to step back. It does not mean the move will be invisible on the day.
  • We will not add tracking or a marketing dashboard unless you ask for that as a separate, agreed piece of work.
